Let's Hike!

FEBRUARY 16-18, 2019

Pinnacles National Forest

Named a national monument in 1908 by President Teddy Roosevelt and a national park by President Obama, the Pinnacles' unique, other-worldly terrain still beckons backpackers.

The park's namesakes are the eroded leftovers of the western half of an extinct volcano that has moved 200 miles  from its original location on the San Andreas Fault, coming to rest in a portion of the California Pacific Coast Ranges.

The park features unusual talus caves that house at least 13 species of bats. Park lands are prime habitat for prairie falcons, and rare California condors.

Mandatory participation for all scouts.
